Associate Degrees [전문학사, jʌnmunhaksa]

Admission Qualifications

Those who have graduated from high schools or recognized as having equivalent or higher academic background under the relevant statutes

Conferment of Degrees

  • Those who were admitted to associate degree courses and have completed the courses determined by school regulations
  • Those who have completed courses of study assessed and certified and whose credit points recognized by the Minister of Education (2-year: over 80 credit points, 3-year: over 120 credit points)
  • Those who have received credit points recognized by the Minister of Education (2-year: over 80 credit points, 3-year: over 120 credit points)

Duration

  • 2 years
  • 3 years : Nursing, Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Physical Therapy, Prosthodontia, Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapy, Fishery, Engine, etc.
  • The term of school years may be reduced for any person who has earned more credits than those required for acquiring a degree pursuant to school regulations, as prescribed by Presidential Decree

Bachelor's Degrees [학사, haksa]

Admission Qualifications

Those who have graduated from high schools or recognized as having equivalent or higher academic background under the relevant statutes

Conferment of Degrees

  • Those who were admitted to bachelor’s degree courses and have completed the courses determined by school regulations
  • Those who have completed 4-year courses in junior colleges for medical personnel determined by school regulations
  • Those who were admitted to advanced major programs in junior college and have completed the courses determined by school regulations
  • Those who were admitted to advanced major courses with a degree in Polytechnic College and have completed the courses determined by school regulations
  • Those who have completed courses of study assessed and certified and whose credit points recognized by the Minister of Education (over 140 credit points)
  • Those who have received credit points recognized by the Minister of Education (over 140 credit points)

Duration

  • 4 years
  • 5 years : Architecture
  • 6 years : Medical College, College of Oriental Medicine, Dental College, Veterinary College, Pharmacy College
  • Reduction of Duration: Not more than 1 year

Master’s Degrees [석사, sʌksa]

Admission Qualifications

Those who hold a bachelor's degree or those who have been recognized as having equivalent or higher academic background under the relevant statutes

Conferment of Degrees

Those who acquire required credits, pass certain examinations and then present a dissertation for a degree as determined by school regulations (other methods may be applied as determined by school regulations)

Duration

  • 2 years+ : Master's degree courses :Not less than two years, respectively
  • Reduction of Duration: Not more than 1 year

Degree Types

  • Academic Degree: General Graduate School, Specialized Graduate School (excluding graduate schools of medical science, dentistry, and oriental medical science)
  • Technical Degree: Specialized Graduate School, Special Graduate School
  • accordance with Article 49-2 of the ⌜Higher Education Act⌟, which came into force in September 21, colleges and universities may establish a Master of Professional Technology program with the approval of the Minister of Education and award a 'Master of Professional Technology Degree' at the same level as a Master's degree

Doctor’s Degrees [박사, baksa]

Those who hold a master's degree or those who have been recognized as having equivalent or higher academic background under the relevant statutes

Conferment of Degrees

Those who acquire required credits, pass certain examinations and then present a dissertation for a degree as determined by school regulations

Duration

  • 2 years+ : Master's degree courses :Not less than two years, respectively
